Dadvellan Aelin encouraged Miha to express herself honestly, and instilled a strong sense of right and wrong, while her mother Lena Dea tempered it by teaching her how to speak with tact in order to get what she wants.
Before her magic manifested, all Miha ever wanted was to get away with tricks and pranks, and join a wandering troupe of performing musicians. After she nearly fried a fellow Dalish with lightning however, she began receiving strict magic lessons from Keeper Deshanna, who was an accomplished healer mage and Mihariel’s grandmother.
Mihariel was trained for years to take over as Keeper, starting as the apprentice to Keeper Deshanna, gone were the days of frolic and freedom. By failing her test for Keeper's First in rebel of Keeper Deshanna however, Miha was sent away to Haven for a mission that will take her far away from home and her People.

A good dose of self-deprecating humour, and just enough tact to read the situation, helped smooth Mihariel into her new life at Haven. Despite the danger she was in, surrounded by humans/templars/chantry fanatics, Miha put on a brave front to mask her fears and insecurities. She avoided the advisors when she could, choosing instead to surround herself with ale and song: the tavern and the companions who frequent it. She remained doubtful of her role as the “Herald of Andraste”, a figure from Chantry stories, and more importantly: human. Nobody expected an elf, least of all a Dalish elf, to be the next saviour of Thedas.
As Inquisitor, Mihariel made sure to make known the erased contributions elves made in Chantry history, including Inquisitor Ameridan. Her encounter with the First Inquisitor made her reassess her experiences since Haven. She thought she was lucky to have survived the explosion at the conclave, but she had been losing pieces of herself ever since to the pressures of Orlesian and Ferelden politics, leading a growing army who were going to die to Corypheus’ forces, and the revelations surrounding the ancient elven gods.
